Round edge

This project is defined by an edge. It is located at the edge of a neighbourhood, at the edge of a city, directly along its boundary.

This line becomes the generator of the project and its leading architectural element. The house is extremely open in one direction, allowing the landscape to dissolve into the interior. At the same time, it remains relatively closed toward the city behind it.

Along this boundary stands the project’s “power wall”: a perforated concrete façade that filters the urban surroundings while framing the open view.

The wall functions as a double-sided curtain. It brings traces of the neighbourhood into the house while allowing the landscape to extend back toward the street.

The concrete cylinders removed from the façade were reused throughout the garden as paving elements.

During the day, the perforated wall brings natural light into the house. At night, it releases artificial light outward, illuminating the street with a distinctive glow.
