Floating tubes

The house stands beside a magnificent boulevard of mature ficus trees. From the very beginning, it was clear that this landscape should become a central part of the design.

To bring the outdoors into the house, we created a series of long, linear volumes. Their ends are transparent, while their sides remain enclosed. At one end lies the garden; at the other, the ficus boulevard. Beyond the solid side walls are the neighboring houses, almost invisible from within.

From every point inside these volumes, nature is revealed. A village within the city.

But symmetry and order are not sacred. They provide the framework, not the content. As one moves deeper into the house, the design becomes less controlled and more expressive.

The staircase is clad in blackened metal treated with copper salts, giving it a raw and industrial character. The wooden floor is intentionally imperfect, marked by cracks and scratches. A playful, colorful chandelier and several pieces of furniture were discovered in a Caribbean market.

The tubes are only the platform. Real life is what emerges within them.

הבית ניצב לצד שדרת פיקוסים בוגרת ומרשימה, שכבר מראשית התכנון הפכה לחלק מרכזי ממנו.

כדי להכניס את הנוף פנימה, תוכננה סדרה של נפחים ליניאריים ארוכים, שקצותיהם שקופים וצדדיהם סגורים. בקצה אחד נמצאת הגינה, ובקצה האחר שדרת הפיקוסים, בעוד בתי השכנים כמעט נעלמים מן המבט. כך נוצרה תחושה של כפר בתוך העיר.

הסדר והסימטריה משמשים מסגרת בלבד. ככל שנכנסים פנימה, הבית נעשה חופשי ואקספרסיבי יותר, עם מדרגות ממתכת מושחרת, רצפת עץ מחוספסת, גוף תאורה צבעוני ורהיטים שנמצאו בשוק בקריביים. הנפחים הם הפלטפורמה, והחיים הם שממלאים אותם.
