The most interesting aspect of this project is actually its hidden part: the basement. Basements usually accommodate the secondary functions of a house and tend to contain darker, less comfortable spaces. That is not the case in this project.

Due to licensing and planning constraints, many of the house’s functions had to be moved to the basement, which extends beneath most of the site. As a result, the basement was designed as a fully open and exposed floor, facing both the front and side boundaries of the property.

Large windows bring in abundant natural light and create high-quality living conditions comparable to those of any other floor in the house. The roof was then transformed into a landscaped garden, restoring the site’s full potential.

The basement residents enjoy an intimate front garden, while the residents of the upper floors benefit from a large and spacious elevated garden.

החלק המעניין ביותר בפרויקט הוא דווקא החלק הנסתר שלו - המרתף. במקום לשמש חלל משני, חשוך וסגור, הוא תוכנן כקומה פתוחה ומוארת הפונה אל חזית המגרש ואל צדו.

אילוצי תכנון ורישוי העבירו למרתף חלק ניכר מפונקציות הבית, ולכן נפתחו בו חלונות גדולים המכניסים אור טבעי ויוצרים איכות מגורים מלאה, הדומה לזו של כל קומה אחרת.

מעליו תוכננה גינה רחבה, המחזירה למגרש את מלוא הפוטנציאל שלו: דיירי המרתף נהנים מגינה קדמית אינטימית, ואילו הקומות העליונות נהנות מגינה מוגבהת ומרווחת.
