Softer

Softer

The new residential project that was accepted in our office overlooks a flourishing, veteran Tel Aviv garden. The hill on which it will be built promises the penthouse wide and long views over the entire north of the city. The neighbors live in some of the most expensive villas in Israel. What was most exciting for us was that the clients requested that this “investment” project also commemorate the memory of the plot’s original owner and resident - their father, a veteran of the Palmach, an engineer and a sculptor. All this told us that this project could not end with just another standard Tel Aviv building.

These starting points were accompanied by the winding street, its soft corner where it meets the street perpendicular to it, the heirs’ fondness for gardening and sculpture, and a few other values that seem to have already disappeared from here. The starting point was fantastic.

From then on, we mainly tried not to disturb. We wanted to respect the lines that were already here before us. We tried to create for each of the urban villas contained within this residential building its own space and peace. We were happy when the garden grew faster than expected and began to hide the building, blurring the lines we had worked so hard on. In our opinion, that is how it likes it - quietly, without shouting.

The building soon merged into the peaceful neighborhood, as though it had always been there. A little cleaner than its neighbors, a little less cracked than them, but not foreign. One that looks as though it has been here forever. We did not need more than that.
