Plus minus

It is difficult to ignore the powerful presence of the large wooden box floating above the garden. Its construction presented a complex technological challenge, pushing structural boundaries to their limits.

“Hidden” on the second floor, beside the box, is a small planted terrace. Although modest and almost concealed, its role is just as important as that of the main garden. It complements the large “plus” with a small, graceful “minus.”

The positive and negative relationship between the two creates balance. Together, they form a complete and functional living system.

Achieving balance does not always mean creating equality.

Designed in response to Israel’s warm climate, the large box fully shades the outdoor deck and lounge area below. The smaller garden beside it provides a calm and pleasant place to relax.

קשה להתעלם מנוכחותה של תיבת העץ הגדולה המרחפת מעל הגינה. הקמתה דרשה פתרון הנדסי מורכב ודחפה את גבולות המבנה כמעט עד קצה היכולת.

לצדה, בקומה השנייה, מסתתרת מרפסת ירוקה קטנה. אף שהיא צנועה וכמעט נסתרת, תפקידה חשוב לא פחות מזה של הגינה המרכזית. היא מאזנת את המסה הגדולה ויוצרת מערכת שלמה בין חיובי לשלילי, בין נוכחות לריק.

התיבה הגדולה מצלילה את הדק ואת אזור הישיבה שמתחתיה, בעוד הגינה הקטנה מציעה מקום רגוע ונעים למנוחה. איזון, לא תמיד פירושו שוויון.
